Suzanne Lipton, Assistant Director
Suzanne Lipton is the Project Manager at EICES. In this role, Suzanne manages the Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates (SEE-U) program as well as general projects at the center. Suzanne came to her interest in environmental sustainability through working in the food industry. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Suzanne started a small food establishment in Ann Arbor, MI, before taking a position as a pastry chef in New York City. Working in the backend of farm to table restaurants exposed her to issues of waste management, sustainable food production, as well as the economic drivers, and policy barriers to creating more food systems and society. These experiences, as well as working with several not for profit organizations focused on the environmental impact of food systems, led her to pursue an MPA in Environmental Science and Policy from SIPA and the Earth Institute in 2014.
Before coming to EICES Suzanne worked at the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at Teachers College and the Schumacher Center for a New Economics. In her free time Suzanne enjoys turning food scraps into compost for the Gowanus Canal Conservancy, a local nonprofit in her Brooklyn neighborhood.
