Application Process

You may enroll in Certificate courses at any time.

Matriculating certificate candidates are admitted into the program on a competitive basis. The application can be submitted electronically through ApplyYourself. Or, applications can be emailed to djb2104@columbia.edu; faxed to 212 854-8188 or mailed to:

Applicants to the Executive Education Certificate in Conservation and Environmental Sustainability or to individual courses are informed of admission decisions within two weeks of submitting their application.
Matriculating certificate candidates must enroll in at least two courses per semester in order to maintain standing and complete the program within three years.

Program Fees

Tuition for each 10-hour course is $720 for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. Fellowship is available on a limited basis; those interested should contact Desmond Beirne at 212 854-0149, djb2104@columbia.edu. Optional field trip fees are separate and there is a one-time transcript fee of $95 for all new students enrolling in courses.

Dates and Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, with several opportunities to enroll each semester. Note that financial support is awarded at the beginning of the semester. Applicants for fellowship are encouraged to apply early.

  • An unofficial copy of your most recent transcript
  • Current Resume or CV
  • A brief description of why you have chosen to participate in the Certificate Program (no more than 500 words)
