Study Abroad Programming in Brazil, Dominican Republic, Jordan

The Earth Institute recently completed three Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates (SEE-U) programs in Brazil, Dominican Republic and Jordan. In Brazil, students studied at the Atlantic Forest, one of the most endangered areas in the world.

Students studying in the Dominican Republic developed projects that provided solutions to ongoing conservation and restoration initiatives at the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation. Students participating in the SEE-U Jordan program visited different ecosystems throughout the country, including three reserves of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature in the Ajloun forest, the Wadi Mujib canyon and the desert region of Dana. Each of these programs was a great success—a total of 55 undergraduate students conducted their own independent field study projects while studying ecology and sustainable development through a combination of labs and lectures, earning six academic credits in five weeks.

    Hello,

I am an 11th grade English teacher at the Liceo Cientifico, a public high school focused on experiential learning and environmental awareness located in Salcedo, D.R.
I am wondering if there might be any opportunities for my students to visit one of your research centers, or for one of your researchers to come to our school to discuss some of their work.
We are always looking for opportunities for our students to use their English in different settings and also to learn more about environmental work happening in their country.
You can check out our school on the website

Thank you so much for your time. Please email me with your response.
